    Growth Survey Results

MACo undertook a comprehensive survey of its county planners on growth, Smart Growth, and GIS capabilities February to March this year. The survey questions were formulated by county planners, with input from MDP and the National Center for Smart Growth Research and Education. The 36-question Growth Survey was completed by all 23 counties and Baltimore City and prepared for a Power Point presentation to the Growth Task Force.

    Legislative Initiative Ideas Wanted

MACo proposes up to four legislative initiatives for State action each year. Recent years’ initiatives have secured heightened consideration of unfunded mandates, increased accountability in school board budgets, obtained more circuit court funding, and stabilized and increased local health funding. The Legislative Planning Committee will meet throughout the summer and fall to develop initiative ideas for consideration by the full Legislative Committee. County officials are invited to submit ideas by June 6 in writing to Legislative Director Michael Sanderson.
