Conferences and Events Overview

Annual Summer Conference

August 18-21, 2010 - Roland Powell Convention Center, Ocean City, Worcester County. The annual conference draws nearly 3,000 local, state and federal government official attendees and their families.

Nearly 20 continuing education sessions are offered at the conference, featuring more than 80 speakers from the public and private sectors. The conference also hosts state agency briefings, organization meetings, and regional county meetings as well as MACo committee meetings. Several education sessions are approved for the Academy for Excellence in Local Governance course credit.

A 250+-Exhibit Booth Trade Show, featuring the best of commercial, state and county services and products is held in two grand exhibit halls, across the foyer from one another. Information about Exhibits is distributed in February.

Highlights of the conference include the Closing Session Address by the Governor and the Crab Feast on Friday evening.

MACo is strictly a non-partisan organization and does not allow any type of political campaigning at its conferences and events.

Annual Winter Conference

January 5-7, 2011 - Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Hotel . . . The Winter Conference is a 3-day event and is scheduled to be held in Dorchester County through 2014. It draws nearly 300 county and state elected and appointed officials.

Educational Session topics focus on reviewing timely issues that will be relevant during the upcoming Maryland General Assembly Session. Like the Summer Conference, there are many regional county meetings, state agency briefings, MACo committee and Board meetings, and Academy credit courses are offered.

At the Winter Conference, there are 25 tabletop exhibits on display Thursday and a Spouse Tour is offered the same day.

Administrators & Attorneys Annual Fall Conference

This half-day retreat is held each fall for county administrators and county attorneys. The date and conference details will be posted online late summer.
