Legislative Buddy System

During the Maryland General Assembly, MACo often calls upon its members to speak with a legislator about a particular bill. The Buddy System was devised to match county elected officials with Maryland senators and delegates to increase communication about legislation which impacts counties.

During Session, county buddies are notified by MACo and asked to promptly contact his/her state legislator buddy (of their choosing) to discuss MACo's position.

You can volunteer at any time to be a County Buddy to a State Legislator. Email Ellen Clarke eclarke@mdcounties.org . Buddies must be willing to contact their state buddy promptly and commit the time to do so and advise MACo on the results of that contact.
