Choosing Speakers and Topics
MACo endeavors to offer educational sessions that benefit and interest county government elected and appointed officials at our conferences. The session topics often serve as a forum for providing information about recent legislation or new issues. Topics range from finances, local government law, planning and zoning, citizen services delivery, or the environment, to ethics.

Conference topic ideas are generated from the leadership, affiliate group members, staff, state government, vendors, and staff. Hundreds of topic ideas are submitted annually and considered, but there are limited time slots and many are not suitable for our audience.

Typically, MACo sessions include a panel of three speakers and the session moderator. The choice of speakers is determined by our goal to provide attendees with varied perspectives on an issue or topic, rather than that from a single person, government entity, academic, or vendor.

Sessions are not intended to supply in-depth information, but rather share an overview of the topic and provide attendees with the resources and contacts for obtaining further information.
